A Complete Guide to Better Beauty in 7 Steps

What's on your beauty counter?

For a while I would just buy certain things just because they smelled good or made me feel super girly. I am what you call an impulsive buyer & I have accumulated so many products that I'm now looking at and wondering what purpose do most of them serve. With so many products to choose from when it comes to caring for the skin, do you really have the right beauty counter? Now for some people, you were born into the skin that many dream of including very few breakouts and blemishes if any. But for the people who are not so fortunate, I have your complete guide to skincare.

Your Complete Guide to Beauty

1. Get a cleanser and stay consistent

Throughout the day your face comes in contact with so many forms of bacteria, from the hands to phone. Removing this kind of build up is the first step to healthy skin. Although it would be like super nice to get immediate results after adding a new cleanser to the collection, it rarely if ever happens immediately. Make sure the cleanser works with your skin type. Its important to cleanse the face in the morning and at night, everyday the skin is aging and the skin repairs itself best with a clean surface!

2. Apply a toner

This is a least talked about yet so important step. Toners help to restore the face. It removes anything left on the face, calms, smooth's, and preps the skin for the moisturizing process. Be sure to apply toners with cotton balls or use a spray & pat it dry. If you have acne prone skin, a toner should definitely add a toner to your routine

3. Invest in a serum

Serums tend to be more pricey but can have a great impact on the skin. Serums have a thin texture and are able to penetrate nutrients to the deep layers of the skin that a moisturizer can't. Be sure that you are using serums with natural ingredients. Apply serums AFTER the cleansing and toning process. Serums help for more than just acne issues, they also help smooth fine lines and wrinkles. Look for serums that contain jojoba, argan, or rosehip.

4. Moisturize , Moisturize, Moisturize

For a long time I was just cleansing my face and thinking that the job was done. I couldn't have been more wrong. YOU HAVE TO MOISTURIZE according to your skin type in order to develop a protective layer. Applying the proper moisturizer boost skin hydration and really improves the overall health and complexion of your skin. For those who desire flawless makeup, the moisturizer that you use is a big key! Before you decide on your moisturizer make sure your product contains at least one long lasting moisturizing agent such as glycerin, hyaluronic acid, or propylene.

5. Find time to exfoliate

I had probably exfoliated like maybe 10 times or less in my life until recently when I started noticing a higher build up of dry skin! How many times you choose to exfoliate is to dependent on the skin. I aim for once a week or every two weeks. Exfoliation is very good for blood circulation for the skin. I even exfoliation on a stressful day, just the massaging sensation alone is relaxing!

6. Relax with a Facial Mask

Facial mask are the best way to calm the mind and skin at the same time. A mask is actually one of the best ways to let the skin absorb an ingredient. Face mask contributes biggest to the pores by unclogging them. Mask also tightens the skin gradually allowing firmer and fresher skin appearance.

7. Clean and switch make up tools and product

This is a big deal for my MAKE UP JUNKIES, always rotate your makeup products out instead of keeping them for long periods of time. When it comes to your tools like beauty blenders and brushes make time to clean them as often as possible. Ideally you want to clean your tools at least once a week but every two weeks wouldn't hurt. If you have sensitive skin you should clean once weekly. Beauty blenders however are more absorbent and should be cleaned after each use as well as replaced often.
